On the 20th September 2016, Babergh District Council made the Lavenham Neighbourhood Development Plan 2016 – 2031(the Plan).  This followed the 8th September 2016, referendum by Lavenham residents to endorse the Plan – by a margin of 91% of those voting.  The Plan will now be used to help decide planning applications in the Parish of Lavenham, the neighbourhood area, and thus provide a more sustainable future for the village.

The Lavenham Neighbourhood Plan launch event took place on the 7th October 2012.  Following this Lavenham was granted Neighbourhood Area Status on the 2nd September 2013 by Babergh District Council in order to facilitate the preparation of a neighbourhood plan for the Parish of Lavenham.

In September 2013, a village wide survey was launched and delivered to all households for completion by residents aged 11 and over.  The survey was delivered to households in both hard copy and hosted online.  The survey was completed by 68% of residents and provided the factual basis required for the Plan to be developed.

Needless to say many hoops were jumped through to get to this final stage.  This web site encompasses the process and outcomes.

Lavenham Parish Council would like to thank all those involved in the production and successful outcome of the Plan, including officers of Babergh District and Suffolk County Council past and present.
